Mahamevnawa is an organization of monasteries established for the sake of guiding all human beings to earn and guard their pure and true well being that will eventually culminate in total freedom from this vicious cyclic existance of suffering called Samsara, in this very life or the other, by following the teachings of the Lord Sakyamuni Buddha who was born in 500 B.C. and became enlightened at the age of 35 without anyone's guidence or instructions but, solely through perfecting all his noble qualities and relentless courage (Dasa Paramita).
It was founded by Most Venerable Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero who is engaged in spreading the Peace Message of Lord Sakyamuni Buddha to both local and international communities emphasizing the aim of Buddhism, achieving fruits of the Dhamma, putting and end to Dukkha (suffering) and attaining the ultimate bliss the Nibbana.
Our main monastery is in Polgahawela, Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka is home to over 35 branches of our organization while overseas branches are in Canada, USA, Australia, UK, Dubai and Germany.
Our only wish is to give you the spiritual guidence and knowledge you need to trael that noble path that lead to the cessation of suffering, the unbounded liberation, the Nirvana (The non-attached state).
